about michael gg foundation
The Michael Gahnyam Gbeungvat Foundation (Michael GG
Foundation) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding
equitable access to healthcare, information, and social services for persons
with disabilities and other vulnerabilities in Cameroon.
Across many communities, structural barriers; including
limited health literacy, stigma, and inadequate service delivery systems; continue
to exclude vulnerable groups from essential care. Michael GG Foundation
addresses these challenges through targeted interventions that combine public
health expertise, community engagement, and inclusive development strategies.
By integrating research-informed approaches with grassroots
action, Michael GG Foundation works to build systems that are not only
accessible, but sustainable and responsive to local realities.
Our Focus Areas:
- Health outreach campaigns: Promoting health education, med consultations, laboratory testing, medication distribution, and minor procedures; directly to underserved village populations.
- Disability-Inclusive Health Services: Promoting equitable access to healthcare for persons with disabilities.
- Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH): Delivering accurate, age-appropriate health education and services.
- Community Health Education: Strengthening knowledge and preventive practices at the community level.
- Capacity Building & Skills Development: Empowering youth and vulnerable populations with practical skills for improved livelihoods.
Our Core Values
At MGGFoundation, everything we do is guided by five unshakeable values that define who we are and how we work. Integrity — we are transparent in our finances, honest in our research, and accountable to every community we serve. Inclusion — we design every program with the active participation of beneficiaries, ensuring no voice is left unheard. Excellence — we hold our research to the highest international standards, publishing only in peer-reviewed journals and partnering with world-class institutions. Compassion — we approach every community not as subjects of study, but as partners in change, treating every individual with dignity and respect. Impact — we measure everything, because we believe that good intentions without measurable outcomes are not enough to change the world.
Why Cameroon
Cameroon is a country of extraordinary resilience and heartbreaking health disparities. With over 11,000 children dying annually from malaria — a preventable disease — and persons with disabilities facing barriers to healthcare three times higher than the general population, the need for evidence-based intervention has never been more urgent. Rural communities in the South West Region, including Buea and its surrounding villages, remain chronically underserved by both government health systems and international aid organizations, leaving entire populations without access to diagnostics, vaccines, or trained health workers. MGGFoundation chose Cameroon not despite these challenges, but because of them — because we believe that the communities most overlooked by the global health system deserve the most rigorous, most compassionate, and most sustained attention that science and advocacy can provide.
